Since when working with spirits or alcoholic beverage?
2004

Where or how did you lear about spirits? Or are you self taught? Do you have a mentor? Tell us something about your history …
Being a Virginia boy, I grew up with bourbon. After my first experiences in the Caribbean, I fell in love with rums. The history (both good and bad), the production, the rum culture, and the varieties. An amazing spirit! I bribed/begged my way into a couple of rum competitions as a judge to learn more, and had many a late night with Ian Burrell, Ed Hamilton, Dave Broom, Paul McFadyn, and Robert Burr, to name just a few.

Where do you work and what you do there?
I do a limited schedule of distillery marketing and tasting/cocktail "edu-tainment" events for both industry and consumers. My clientele runs from New England to the Keys, with concentration in Florida and the Southeast USA.

We know you love rum, but … What is your favorite cocktail?
A dry Rum Old Fashioned with Fee Bros bitters and Luxardo maraschino cherries.

What spirits do you like to drinks besides rums?
Gins & tequilas. I won the Margaritaville Tequila Mixology Contest in Key West 2005. I drummed up a "Mayan Princess Mocha Madness" tequila frappachino to target the crowd on a hot day.

Drinking rum with is your favourite style to drink all the time?
Most of the time. I also enjoy Guiness, and any of the beers from Brass Cannon Brewing, my son's brewery in Williamsburg, VA. I also enjoy an occasional Spanish red wine.

What spirits can´t miss in your home bar?
Besides rum of course … Canton liqueur, Vat 43, good vermouths, maraschino liqueur, a few dry gins, Belvedere Vodka. And a sea of bitters! (not spirits, but gotta have them)

Is there any drink you do not like? Why?
A well made cocktail should be appreciated. Personally, I steer away from too much sweet.

Which bartenders do you admire?
Jonathan Pogash, Martin Tummino, Gary Regan, Eric Seed, Richard Woods, just to name a few. I admire and repect any professional in this fascinating world!

Do you make cocktails at home? If yes … what music do you listen? Or even, when you drink rum, what music is your favourite?
Ska and Latin.

Any books abour rum and spirits to recommend?
Dave Broom's RUM, Wayne Curtis AND A BOTTLE OF RUM, Ian Williams RUM: A SOCIAL AND SOCIABLE HISTORY OF THE REAL SPIRIT OF 1776. Tom Gjelten BACARDI AND THE LONG FIGHT FOR CUBA.

What is the most unusual or exotic rum you ever taste?
The authentic Black Tot Rum while I was in London UK (sipping history!), and the private release by Wray & Nephew, courtesy of Richard Woods.

What do you think about RUM Competitions and spirits competitions in genral, around the world?
They're a great way for new distilleries to get feedback & notice, and for setablished distilleries to try out upcoming new products.
